120-Hour POST Public Safety Dispatchers' Basic Course
Presented by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department
The Public Safety Dispatchers' Basic Course is the entry-level training requirement for dispatchers employed by agencies participating in POST's public safety dispatcher program, as specified in Commission Regulation 1018.
April 10th through April 28, 2017 (Monday through Friday each week)

This course provides the minimum instruction required by POST for dispatchers working for law enforcement agencies.
The Public Safety Dispatchers' Basic Course has a minimum hourly requirement of 120 hours, which is divided into 14 individual topics, called Learning Domains. The Learning Domains contain the minimum required foundational information for given subjects, which are detailed in the following publication --> Training Specifications for the Public Safety Dispatchers' Basic Course (click link to download pdf).
Practical exercises and problem solving will be used to build skills and obtain knowledge necessary for an entry level public safety dispatcher.
This course presentation is only available to dispatchers currently employed by a public safety agency.
This course is certified under POST reimbursement Plan IV (Course #4690-30900-16002). Course hours are required by POST and minimum attendance hours are required to complete the course. Completion certificates will be awarded.
Students attending this course are expected to wear attire appropriate for classroom training in accordance with their agency's policies.
Payment is due by the first day of class. Payment can be made using a credit card during the online registration process, by sending a check by mail, or bringing a check on the first day of class. Invoices can be sent upon request.
