Post Evangelical Pastor & Leader Gathering
Event Information
About this event
Join us October 12-13, 2021 in South Bend, Indiana as we gather together with other pastors and leaders in the post-evangelical space in order to connect, share resources, learn from one another, and know that you're not alone as you seek to lead the church into new spaces.
These are pastors and other leaders who find the boundaries of evangelicalism too narrow for our experience of God and its politics corrupted by an un-Christlike vision. Who seek a more just and inclusive expression of faith, but also reject the temptation to trade one exclusionary stance for another in the effort to address the need for justice and inclusion. Who believe in the importance of deconstruction, but also believe in rebuilding faith as followers of Jesus. Who see the Spirit moving through new ideas and theological visions, but who also embrace the depth and breadth of historical faith.
This will be an opportunity not to hear more content - we're all great at finding content, but rather to build relationships, to learn from one another, and to see the larger movement that the Spirit is stirring beyond our local context. Brit Barron and Scott Erickson will serve as sort of spiritual guides for our time, helping to create space for us to encounter the Spirit. But a lot of our time will be focused on creating space for conversation - both guided and unguided.
In order to make it as accessible as possible for whoever would like to be a part there will be no cost for those registered by July 31 and a minimal fee after that. Hopefully, that should not only make it easier for you to attend but possibly for you to bring other team members from your context along with you. It will be a richer experience for both you and everyone else if you are able to bring someone with you.
South Bend City Church will be hosting us, but they are coming as fellow participants and learners.

SPIRITUAL DIRECTION
One opportunity to build relationships, to learn from one another, and to see the larger movement that the Spirit is stirring beyond our local context is through group spiritual direction. We’ve invited a spiritual director from eleven28 to lead group spiritual direction. In these groups, you can seek discernment about where the Spirit is moving, take a deep breath from the tension of seeking a God you struggle to find, and meet other people in similar spaces. Please sign up for a spiritual direction group in advance of the conference. While there may be spots available the day of, we don’t want you to miss this opportunity.

WHO WE ARE
Last year, a group of us who were trying to put language around what is happening in the church in the post-evangelical space and wanting to define who we are more than who we are not put together this document.
It may not fully represent you and some parts of it may resonate with you more than others. But, I think it's a helpful starting point to know where we're coming from as we gather. You don't need to fully buy into what it says to be a part, but I hope it helps to communicate some of the ethos behind our gathering.
**Final note: we are watching the COVID numbers and while we're hopeful that we will be able to hold this event, we will keep you updated should anything need to change.
In order to make sure we have an accurate count for planning purposes as we work to keep this event free, you will receive an invoice for $50 if you do not show up to the event after registering.
By registering, you agree to pay this in the case that you do not attend.
