Event description

Description

The Annual Positive Psychology Meet Up (formerly the MAPP Reunion) is an opportunity to meet up with fellow Positive Psychology & Appreciative Inquiry practitioners in a relaxed, social environment, to share what you're working on, network, make new friends, and catch up with old friends.

This year we're meeting in London, in the picturesque surroundings of Chiswick Pier - and yes, weather permitting, there will be opportunities for a mindful walk along the river during the day - finishing off the day in a nearby riverside pub.

The theme for the day is 'Building Psychological Capital & the HERO model (Hope, self-Efficacy, Resilience, Optimism)'.

The provisional programme for the day is:

9.30am - Arrival, Coffees and Hellos
10am Official Welcome & Mindful Opening
10.15 Introductions
10.45 “Open Mic” Sharing Session Part 1 - your chance to share something about your work, journal article, book or workplace intervention you have found useful - and an opportunity to ask for help or collaboration.
(coffee & biscuits)
11.30 Discussions around HERO (hope, efficacy, resilience, optimism)
12pm Dr Carolyn Youssef-Morgan, a leading researcher in the field of Psychological Capital will be giving a short talk with Q&A via live video link.
1pm - Lunch
2pm - “Open mic” Sharing Session Part 2
3.30 Tea & stretch break
3.45 Revisit intentions, share actions & close
4.30pm Group Photo & Goodbyes
Followed by a mindful river walk… towards a pub!

For locals, and those travelling down the day before, there will also be an informal meet up on the Friday evening, in a Central London pub. If you can't make the day itself, but would like to join us in the pub on either Friday or Saturday evening, email me on andrew@thewolfyoufeed.co.uk, and I'll send out an email nearer the time to let you know which pub(s) we'll be heading for.

We wanted the event to be as affordable as possible, so that as many people who wanted to come could, and so we've kept costs as low as we can. The total cost for the day, including lunch and refreshments, is £40 (plus Eventbrite's booking fee). Please email josie@jacobs.me.uk if you have any questions about the event, including dietary requirements, or to discuss access needs.

There is limited parking on-site, and on the road nearby. The area around the Chiswick Pier Trust (CPT) is very residential so when you drive down the last road towards the venue on your left, you will see parking at what looks like apartment buildings on your right. You can park in any space which has the ‘CPT’ letters marked on the floor, but only those ones.

Please feel free to share this with your friends & colleagues practising or researching in the field of Positive Psychology or Appreciative Inquiry. We look forward to welcoming you at the event, and to a fantastic day of sharing and discussion.

See you there!

Carolyn M. Youssef-Morgan, PhD, is the Redding Chair of Business and a core faculty member in the PhD in Human Capital Management program at Bellevue University.
