Friends Who Are Going
Event description

This workshop is designed by Kilometre Zero for photographers who have an understanding of DSLR camera settings and can shoot on the manual mode. The workshop will help you develop an in depth knowledge and practice of outdoor Portrait Photography.

Our expert photographer Julien Borghino will lead the group through the streets of Edinburgh and teach hand by hand with a professional model how to capture personality, use effective lighting, and poses.

Julien is a Fashion and lifestyle photographer trying to combine the French feeling of glamour with the stunning Scottish fashion scene by working with local brands such as Walker Slater.

We will start the workshops with a brief Introduction where you will learn how to use the outdoor environment as well as the backgrounds to enhance the portrait by making an efficient use of lighting, flash and colours.

Once you are all set up, it is time to take your camera and start shooting!

What to expect?

Portrait photography is about capturing someone’s personality but what do you look for when working with your model? This practice workshop will focus on the following points:

1. Work with a real model

2. How to connect with your model and share in the process - Convey an essence of authority, so your direction of the model is confident and self-assured.

3. Lighting and Environment – How to manage natural and artificial light. Create shadows, reflexions and flash effects.

4. Camera and Lens dynamics – Focal lenght for portraits. Learn how to use different lenses while shooting portraits and when to use them.

5. Reflectors. How to make use of reflectors, flash guns and filters when doing an outdoor photoshoot.

6. Editing. Learn key guidelines on how to edit portrait photography.
