Portland's 15 Minutes
Chris Riley + Jody Turner
Moderated by Linda Jeo Zerba
Where is Portland in its 15 minutes of fame? There is nothing more controversial than debating the very vision of the place in which we live or defining the vision of how we live, work and play and its value.
Two global visionaries share the stage to discuss Portland’s vision based on their latest insights on culture, community and design.
Join us for an evening of insight and debate on the passions of the Portland effect around a Portland-styled brew.
Designspeaks exists to encourage people to talk about design. Our purpose aims to explore design within the multidisciplinary: architecture, brand, communications, experience, film, fashion, graphic, and industrial. To establish an interface within the context of real life. To support the most compelling regional voices in design. To talk it through.
Each local event celebrates talent practicing in the immediate region. Previous speakers include Seattle’s Modern Dog (in Portland and Seattle), professor and filmmaker Andrea Marks, dean of Northwest design, the redoubtable Byron Ferris, Communications Arts editor Patrick Coyne, creative director Jelly Helm, designer and entrepreneur Aaron Draplin (in Portland and Seattle), educator and illustrator Frank Chimero, design style-makers The Official Manufacturing Company (OMFGCo), local design pioneers The Felt Hat, the inimitable Invisible Creature, Steve Sandstrom, Jeff Kovel of Skylab and Jeff Faulkner.
