Portland Workshop: Make Data Work For You: Data Dashboards

Are you unsure what a data dashboard is? Have you thought of visualizing your data through a dashboard, but you are not sure where to start? In this workshop we will walk through the design process for creating simple, Excel-based data dashboards that can help organizations visualize program data, indicators, and other metrics.
This workshop is best suited for individuals who are interested in monitoring and/or visualizing their data through a data dashboard. Participants should have basic or intermediate skills with Microsoft Excel.
Attendees will walk away with:
An understanding of data dashboards, how they can be useful and a process for creating their own.
Knowledge of what data might be useful for an organization to track and how to create audience-friendly visualizations.
Meet Your Facilitators
Sarah Goan, MPP, Research Associate II
Sarah has over a decade of experience working with programs that enhance child and family well-being. In addition to constantly generating new ideas and innovative approaches, she provides evaluation services, facilitation and technical assistance to organizations with a true passion for and love of all that data can do. Sarah has an MPP from George Washington University and BA in Political Science and Latin American Studies from Tufts University.
Rachel Gallo, MPH, Research Analyst II
Rachel provides technical assistance, research, and evaluation services to programs working to improve healthcare delivery in Maine. She is a member of the evaluation team for the statewide Maine Lung Cancer Prevention and Screening Initiative (Maine LungCAPS). In addition, she was recently elected to the Cumberland District Public Health Council. Rachel has a MPH in Epidemiology from George Washington University and a BS in Biology from the University of New Hampshire.
