Students Can’t be What They Can’t See

STEM: All Access Pass

See \ˈsē \ (verb)

1) To perceive by the eye 2) to have an experience of 3) to imagine as a possibility 4) To come to know, discover 5) to perceive the importance of, understand

Students need opportunities to see STEM in action. They need to see cutting edge technologies and innovations. They need to be engaged in hand-on minds-on learning and see school content applied to real world contexts. They need to see how STEM content and skills are foundational to our world. They need to see STEM connections to their communities - solving problems important to them - and most importantly, they need to see that they have a role to play. STEM is for THEM - an All Access Pass to success.

Our most vulnerable students are the least likely to have opportunities to see STEM in action or to see themselves as successful in STEM jobs. STEM/STEAM opportunities for youth need to include a wide range of activities where they can see themselves -- through role models, relevant experiences, and current innovations -- as empowered participants able to make a difference.

Join us as we gather together to strategize how to help students see STEM in the big issues of the day and see themselves as exactly the folks to use their knowledge, skills, and voice to have a bright future and make a difference.
