Event description

Description

The CIPSS Bi-annual Fidelity Review is required to maintain certification. Attendance is limited to those currently in the Maine CIPSS Training Program.

What you can expect:

The reviews will be facilitated by a CIPS trainer and an IPSAC committee member. There are several questions that you will be asked to answer about your experiences practicing peer support. Then there are three “conversation starters” – not quite a role play, but much like one. This portion typically takes no more than 30 minutes. At that point you’ll be asked to step out of the room so the trainer and IPSAC member can compare scores. You will then be invited to return to the room. You will be given your score and feedback on each question. Even if you receive a perfect score, we will offer to discuss all of the questions. This is a learning opportunity. Participants are required to demonstrate their proficiency in IPS skills with a score at or above the median to maintain certification. Anyone who scores below the median will have the opportunity for further study and tutoring before retaking the review. If you do not pass initially, you DO NOT lose your certification.

IPSAC and SAMHS are committed to a fair and transparent Fidelity Review process and we welcome feedback from participants on all aspects of the process. We encourage you to use every resource available to prepare, including, support through your employer, friends and peers. We hope you will come to your Review prepared to discuss your experience using Intentional Peer Support skills (including the Four Tasks) when you practice peer support, just like we do in Co-Reflections and classes. Think about what has worked well, and what you have learned from some of the challenges you have experienced.

Among other things you should be prepared to discuss the following:

An example of a relationship where you have been able to use all four tasks.

An example of a difficult connection.
