Event description

Description

Become a Citizen Scientist! In just 2 hours. Learn how to correctly operate a high-tech portable air monitor so you can check out the equipment yourself and record pollution levels in your neighborhood. We use Areoqual Particulate Matter 2.5 and 10 portable air monitors that are extremely accurate and also extremely easy to use. No prior experience necessary. Not technical background required.

These are the same monitors used to help the Joppa neighborhood fight off two new batch plants last March when they were used to record much higher pollution levels in that community than the official EPA monitor on the other side of downtown was registering - and the City of Dallas was relying on.

Already had our Level One training? Come take a field trip to record levels at possible hot spots, add data points to our PM map and earn the right to check out a monitor.

Learn how to use the technology that's bringing state-of-the-art science to frontline communities.

We need at least five folks to do the training on this date, or it rolls over to our EARTH DAY X trainings April 20th and 21st. So bring some friends along and make it a date.
