Event description
POP ART PETS AT HOME! Paint your pet's portrait while they are sitting next to you!

About this Event

*We have extended the registration deadline to Sept. 16th!* BOOK NOW AND SEND YOUR PET PHOTO TO info@brushandcork.com NO LATER THAN September 16th!

Since we aren't able to host you in our studio right now, here's your chance to PAINT YOUR PET at home! We invite you to join the fun of painting your critter in the comfort of your own home with virtual guidance to help you through your painting experience. When you purchase your ticket you will be provided with a Zoom webinar link and password.

HOW A VIRTUAL PARTY WORKS:

This party will be held via Zoom, a free video-conferencing software. We'll be giving live instruction for this painting and you'll be able to chat with us live and other participants via a chatbox.

PAINT KITS:

Purchase your tickets and submit your pet's photo NO LATER THAN September 16th. Then, pick up your paint kits on Fri., October 2nd between 2:00 - 4:00 PM at our Brush & Cork studio (226 W Jackson St, Sonora, CA 95370). We'll have a drive-thru set-up so you won't even need to get out of your vehicle. If that time doesn't work for you, please email us at info@brushandcork.com or message us through our Brush & Cork Facebook Page.

Each $65 kit contains:

  • Custom 11" x 14" pre-drawn canvas
  • Individualized paint colors for your critter's portrait
  • A printed photo of your pet to use as a guide when painting
  • Live online instruction

PLEASE NOTE: We will NOT be providing brushes. We have researched and currently, the best place to buy brushes is Jerry's Artarama. A great beginning set under $10 is Item #V15004. Or you can always try Amazon. Look for Golden Taklon watercolor brushes. ORDER EARLY to make sure you get them on time.

ACCESSING THE PARTY:

Download Zoom to your phone, tablet or computer prior to the party time (if you don't already have it). Download it here: https://zoom.us/download

Then on Friday, October 2nd at 6:00 PM get ready to paint with us via a Zoom video presentation. Our webinar link will be shared with you in your confirmation and reminder emails. You can sign into the meeting 5 to 10 minutes early and wait in the group waiting room and we will welcome everyone in at once. Don't forget your wine, an apron, water jug, rag, a cover for your table, and your brushes!

Be sure to share this event with your friends so you all can party together!

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PERFECT PET PHOTO (please read carefully):

Here are some brilliant tips for getting the best photo of your pet: https://www.shutterstock.com/blog/pet-photography-tips-and-tricks

Photos must be high-resolution and in jpg or jpeg format, not pdf or png.

POSES:

Either take the photo as you are standing above them and they are looking up at you OR get down on the floor and be at their level. To get a good face shot, it works if they have their mouths open or tongues out. It makes them look like they are smiling and really adds character to the portrait. Or if they have a cute way of tilting their head or perking up their ears, that all adds to their character in the portrait. If you don’t know which one to use, send me 2 or 3 and let me choose which one will work the best.

Full front face view is better than a profile. It helps to have someone help you, while you offer treats or playtime, have someone else snap pictures. NO NEED TO CROP, I will do that to fit the canvas. Only ONE pet per painting (believe me, these are detailed!). These are headshots, so don't worry about getting in their cute little tail.

LIGHTING:

If your pet is a solid dark color (black or brown) and it’s hard to see their eyes in the photo, make sure that sunlight or room lighting is behind you and facing them so that their eyes are lit up and visible in the photo and make sure that the background is light enough to contrast behind their head.

If your pet is one solid light color, you guessed it… please make sure that you pose them on a dark background in order to contrast them and not blend in with the background.

If there is a certain marking on your pet’s face that is important to you, make sure that the lighting doesn’t wash it out.

Don’t let all these instructions scare you. It’s not difficult and if you follow them, your portrait of your pet will come out just perfect. You’re creating a keepsake you’ll treasure forever. Have fun with it!

BOOK NOW AND SEND YOUR PET PHOTO TO info@brushandcork.com NO LATER THAN September 16th!

Please keep in mind, we have online gift certificates available for purchase on our website! Brush & Cork gift certificates can be used for Paint At Home parties or parties in our studio once we're able to serve you again in person!
