Come join Bee Downtown for a family fun workday at the IFFS Geer St. Learning Garden (110 E. Geer Street)! We are looking for as many volunteers as possible to help us build new garden beds and install hundreds of pollinator friendly plants! All tools and gloves provided and parking directions will be emailed once you register.
After the workday join us as we walk over to Fullsteam Brewery to kick off the weekend and celebrate our new garden! All ages welcome.
As we all know our pollinators are struggling everyday to find enough healthy forage and habitat. In partnership with the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle we have purchased a number of native, perennial plants from Niche Gardens in Chapel Hill and Useful Plants in Black Mountain, NC. These unique plants will bloom through the coming years providing critical habitat, nectar and pollen to our honey bees and other pollinators. This will be a great workday to come and learn about our hives and how you can encourage pollinators in your home garden or landscaping! If you're interesting in learning more about the type of plants you can utilize and the style of garden we will be building you can check out the "Pollinator Paradise Garden" in Pittsboro, NC.
