Join us to celebrate and learn more about our important pollinators!

Special Weekend Event Sponsored by the Friends of Patuxent

Activities for All Ages:

  • Monarch story time and sing along
  • Migration game
  • Monarch tag and release (if conditions permit)
  • Nature and wildlife interpretive walks
  • Talk with honey bee keepers from BUMBA and USGS Bee Monitoring Inventory Lab(BMIL) staff

Learn about the wonder of the annual 3,000 mile migration of the Monarch Butterfly and about the roles domestic & native bees play in our environment.

Plus, learn how to create a new and/or enhance established Monarch habitats.

FREE milkweed seed packets for our region to plant a home. Learn how you can help at home.

Please note, this event is held at the North Tract of the Patuxent Research Refuge. This is an outdoor event so please plan accordingly - dress for outside and bring water.
