Description

Politics and Prosecutors: Where Will the Special Counsel Investigation Lead Us?

6:00 p.m. - Check-in

6:30 p.m. - Program

Special Counsel Robert Mueller III’s investigation into the Trump campaign and the Russian infiltration of the 2016 election has consumed the public and the President for over a year now. Now, with more central players cooperating with the probe, what will the investigation reveal, and when? Will the investigation - and the rule of law - survive regular attacks from the President? Does the Special Counsel bear too much oversight responsibility of our elections and democracy?

Three former prosecutors will weigh in on these questions and more, sharing perspectives from their experience as top officials in the Department of Justice, the White House, the Southern District of New York, and a state Attorney General’s office.

Anne Milgram, Special Counselor, Lowenstein Sandler; Professor of Practice and Distinguished Scholar in Residence, Senior Fellow, NYU School of Law; former Attorney General of New Jersey
Lisa Monaco, Distinguished Senior Fellow, Law and Security, Cybersecurity; Adjunct Professor of Law, NYU School of Law; former Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism

Moderator: Daniel S.Goldman, NBC News/MSNBC Legal Analyst; former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York; Fellow, Brennan Center for Justice, NYU School of Law
