Political Trauma Stress & Radical Self-Care: Turn Anxiety, Fear and Anger into Connection, Wellness and Resistance: Sat., 9/23 at 9-1230 (9/23 is FULL-contact me to get on waiting list). Also offered Tuesday, 12/5 at 6-930pm

This workshop is specifically designed for socially conscious humans to discuss "Political Trauma Stress" and how to maintain Radical Self-Care and Personal Wellness. This is a skill-sharing workshop to connect with other like-minded people who are in need of fortifying their self-care and increasing extra support during these unpredictable and frightening social-political times. Oppression Fatigue, as it relates to the current social-political climate, will be explored in safe and open ways. Improve your sustainable self-care, health and well-being. Keep the revolution healthy.

$25. No one turned away for inability to pay.

Registration: Space is limited. You must be registered through this Eventbrite site to attend and to hold your spot.

Agenda:
A. Overview
1. Share thoughts and feelings about the current social - political climate
2. How is the current climate impacting your physical, emotional, psychological health and well-being, and your sense of safety in the world? Are you feeling increased anxiety, fear, helplessness, confusion or anger? Other?
3. Are you involved in any forms of political activism or social media? If so, how do they impact your self-care?
4. Share how participants’ various degrees of privilege and oppression experiences are impacting them during these times
5. Assess your current self-care and well-being habits – quick personal assessment

B. The impacts of “Political Trauma Stress” – (“PTS”)
1. Discuss the definitions of trauma, PTSD, oppression fatigue, and Political Trauma Stress (PTS*)
2. Explore the links between the current social – political climate and “PTS,” trauma/PTSD, and "oppression fatigue"
3. Learn the science behind our brain and body’s reactions to threats (perceived or real)
4. Understand the natural psycho-physical primal self-protection reactions of fight, flight, flee and freeze
5. Learn scientifically proven methods to calm our bodies and gain more agency over our emotions of anxiety and fear
6. Why "Radical Self-Care"?

C. Understand and develop your own personal self-care:
1. Identify your definition of self-care
2. Explore how/if your definition of self-cares matches your current care and your values around self-care
3. Explore what interferes with you doing the self-care you want to do
4. Explore what self-compassion means to you and its relationship to fostering increased self-care
5. Explore how to further integrate self-compassion and your personal values into your self-care intentions and plans
6. Learn and share self-help skills, strategies and ideas
7. Discuss “14 Free Self-Care Strategies”
8. Come away with an actual "My Self Care Plan for the Socially Conscious"
9. Resources (books, online sites, articles and blogs) on big and little ways to resist, connect and get through the next 3.5 years.

"Maintaining A Strong Relationship While Parenting: For All Family Configurations" Sat., 1/13/18: Sat., from 8:30 to 12:30pm: Open to adults within all types of interpersonal relationships and family compositions. Address co-parenting, blended families, parenting with an "ex" in the picture, being the non-biological parent, fostering, adopting, polyamory. Explore how being a parent impacts the adult relationship(s) and come up with sustainable ways to foster healthy connection and open communication.
