Event description

Description

Join NEWaukee and Bridge the City as we dive deep into the topic of justice in Milwaukee. As we approach the upcoming spring election, our Political Open Mic will give residents, elected officials, nonprofit leaders, and the business community a platform to share innovative solutions to the challenges they face in our community around criminal justice and the judiciary.

We hope to foster respect and positivity between attendees and speakers to create civic dialogue and develop attitudes focused on productive solutions rather than ideological tribes. Come with an open mind and be ready to share your voice!

Enjoy complimentary pizza while it lasts. Drinks from MobCraft will be available for purchase. This is an all ages event must be 21 to drink.

Featured Speakers:

  • Mayor Tom Barrett, Mayor of Milwaukee
  • John T. Chisholm, Milwaukee County District Attorney
  • Justice Rebecca Dallet, Justice on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Dallet is the newly elected Justice on the Wisconsin Supreme Court after being a circuit court judge in Milwaukee County.
  • Evan Goyke, State Representative. Goyke is the current representative for the 18th assembly district. Before politics, Goyke worked as a public defender and on the Marquette University “Street Law Project”.
  • Reggie Moore, Director of the Office of Violence Prevention. Moore was critical in developing the Blueprint for Peace, a guiding document that gives tools to residents, police, organizations, and stakeholders to create more cohesive neighborhoods, respond better to trauma, and reduce violence across our city.
  • Katie Sanders, Executive Director of Safe & Sound
  • Dr. Patrick J. Wolf. Wolf is Distinguished Professor of Education Policy and 21st Century Endowed Chair in School Choice in the Department of Education Reform at the University of Arkansas College of Education and Health Professions.
