Event Details

  • Millions of voters live in California’s townhomes, co-ops, and condos managed by homeowner associations (HOAs.)  Though run by elected boards, some “mini-governments” have prohibited owners from assembling on HOA common areas to discuss public issues – even ones like assessment increases that affect them financially.  Candidates for public office too have been told that associations are "private" and that "rules" bar both voters and candidates from meeting on a HOA campus to discuss election issues.  State Senator Bob Wieckowski's new law -- SB407 -- aims to change this picture.  COME hear him speak on Saturday, January 27th. MEET the homeowners who inspired the bill.  LEARN how HOA owners can enforce the right to political free speech in small claims court. This training is for homeowners, candidates running in the 2018 elections, anyone doing voter registration.  Sponsored by the Office of Senator Bob Wieckowski and the Center for California Homeowner Association Law, Oakland.
