PoetryMic is a series that presents an array of varied and talented poets. This month’s poets are Michael Maul, Joan Magiet and Amy Sell.

Michael Maul has held faculty and administration positions at Ohio University (Athens, Ohio,) The Columbus College of Art and Design (Columbus, Ohio,) and Saint Louis University (St. Louis, Missouri.) He is a past winner of the Mercantile Library Prize for Fiction, for a short story set in Siesta Key, and his work was selected for inclusion in Intro 4, an anthology of new voices published by The University of Virginia Press. His poems have previously appeared in numerous literary publications and anthologies in the U.S. as well as in Ireland, Scotland, and Australia.

Joan Magiet has combined careers as a multi award-winning journalist and poet and assistant professor of English at Nassau Community College on Long Island. She has read her work on radio and television. She is a founding member of Performance Poets Association and has served on the editorial board and as a contest judge. She winters in Sarasota and summers in N.Y.

Amy Sell moved from Wisconsin to Sarasota in 1988 due to the farming crisis. She graduated from UF in 2001. She is currently the assistant manager Goodwill’s Clark Road used bookstore, and her time outside the bookstore is devoted mostly to artwork, crafts, and area poetry readings.
