The newly introduced Poetry Nights at Raue Center will include various poets from the Chicago-land area reading their own contemporary verses in a casual and intimate setting. After featured poets read their works, the mic will be open to members of the audience who would like to share their work.
Poet and puppeteer, Phil C. Deonfrio, has recently been elected by Raue Center For The Arts to fulfill the newly created role of Poet in Residence. Mr. Denofrio's duties are to host several poetry nights and open mics over the course of the next two years. Denofrio completed school in poetry at Columbia College Chicago, where he became a props designer, puppet-maker, and puppeteer for several years for different theaters. During this time, Denofrio obtained his Master's degree in English Literature, focusing on Dramatic Literature, after which, he settled back in the McHenry County Area. He has been published in the Susquehanna Review and extensively in various online webzines.
