Event description
Adapted from Opera Omaha's annual Poetry & Music Project: a free, virtual, one-hour workshop focused on poetry writing for music!

About this Event

One of our favorite programs each year is the Poetry & Music Project, where Opera Omaha and the Nebraska Writers Collective (NWC) invite students to submit poetry— some poems are selected by composers who set students' words to original music. This year Opera Omaha and the NWC led writing workshops for over 500 Nebraska students, and now we’re adapting our Poetry & Music Project Writing Workshops for adults!

NWC Core Teaching Artist Pat McEvoy will lead this free, virtual, one-hour workshop focused on poetry writing for music. The workshop will include prompts in addition to sharing and discussing work from other writers, and participants will be asked to pick up their pens and write. Participants will be invited to share their work and our teaching artist will offer encouraging feedback.

All are welcome, no previous writing experience necessary.

This event is free, register to receive zoom link.
