Event Details

DO YOU WANT TO CULTIVATE the loving practice we need as we dream and make worlds where each and all of us are free? Want to honor the precious breath keeping us all alive, alongside the vital work of liberation? Curious about meditation or the teachings of the dharma along your path?

JOIN US! This online meditation and mindfulness series gathers kindred spirits of all traditions and no chosen tradition together to honor poetry and breath as we amplify our liberation love frequency, with poetry as a spring.

BACKGROUND AND DETAILS

I'm grateful to have found deep refuge in and beyond the community of practitioners I've met through East Bay Meditation Center's People of Color Sangha, Every Body Every Mind Sangha, our Accessibility Committee, and our year-long Commit to Dharma program. This series is one way I hope to honor and share the teachings I've received. I created this space to foster sangha to complement our everyday practice, and that might otherwise be hard to access or cultivate in person because of geography, cultural accessibility, physical accessibility, financial accessibility, and/or transportation.

History: The series launched on May Day 2013, both in celebration of spring's deliverance and in remembrance of courage hearts striking for 8-hour workdays at Haymarket Square in 1886. We gather first Wednesdays (US time) from 7:30-9 EST/EDT each month.

Day of details: "Doors open" at 7:30pm EST/EDT, when I first send the Google Hangout invitation to registered practitioners. We start our hour of formal practice together at 8pm EST/EDT.

ABOUT JOYFUL DANA

Like the dharma teachers with whom I’ve had the privilege to practice and learn with, I am freely offering these digital sangha gatherings in the spirit of Dana. As shared by the East Bay Meditation Center, which operates on a generosity-based “All-Dana” model, “Dana is the ancient Pali language word describing generosity arising effortlessly from deep gratitude.”

Through registration and at the close of each dharmacast, I’ll offer opportunities to participate in growing a culture of generosity-based economics by making a voluntary gift. As you are able and moved to, your donation will support my livelihood and teachings.
