About this event

Poets will explore employing dream imagery, surrealism, and the hyper-real in poetry with Amy Wray Irish. Turn your writing upside down with this poetry workshop on surrealism.

Participants will look at the world in new ways; practice blurring the lines between dreaming and waking; and above all PLAY like the surrealists.

Inspiration will be provided in the form of

—Poetry by Charles Simic, Pablo Neruda, Helen Ivory and others

—Art by Salvador Dali, Frida Kahlo, Rene Magritte, and others

—"Tiny Spoon," a local journal of experimental and hybrid poetry

—"A Humument," a book of collage poetry and art by Tom Philips

—Children's books, fairy tales, mythology, and comic books

Time to stop overthinking and start diving into your wildest imagination!
