Join us for the first podcast conference in Western Canada!
This will be a gathering of podcasters, and the podcast-curious. We'll share knowledge, war stories, successes and failures, and have a chance to connect with each other.
PodSummit will be a full day of learning, amazing speakers, and networking. There are four main sessions:
Art Of Storytelling
If you are a fan of Serial, Hardcore History, Planet Money or any of the other top rated podcasts - you are familiar with the grip of a great long-form audio program.
This session will show you how to craft, script, and deliver shows to rival the best podcasts out there. Learn about story structure, content, and engagement hooks. Presented by Meg Wilcox.
Editing With Style
How to create a signature sound, and elevate the quality of your podcast - so people can recognize it anywhere, anytime.
We’ll learn about different kinds of cuts, music punctuation, and other editing techniques from a seasoned audio production professional. Presented by Brock “Skywalker” Armstrong.
How to conduct engaging, in-depth interviews that will delight your interviewees and your audience.
As part of this session, we will do a live demonstration where the speaker will walk us through how to plan your interview, structure questions, and navigate the conversation as it’s happening. Presented by Adam Rozenhart.
Engage. Grow. Monetize
Engage. Grow. Monetize - Most of us would like to reach a larger audience, and build a community around our ideas and shows.
This session will walk you through how to find and connect with your listeners so that you can develop better show ideas, grow your subscriber numbers, and eventually consider monetizing. Presented by Scott St. Pierre.
After the conference, our friends at WorkNicer will host a cocktail hour with beer on tap.
See you on May 6, 2017!
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Since we are holding the event on Saturday - there will be plenty of on-street parking in the area, but your best bet will be the Calgary Parking Lot 54, right across the street (same building as Globe Theatre). $2 for the day.
What about lunch and coffee and such?
Lucky for us, the conference location is centrally located, and there are a few great local restaurants you will be able to hit up for lunch and coffee. We will have some bottles of water avaialble at the event, but we also recommend to bring your own non-alcoholic beverage/s for the day!
