About this event

“It is about more than an ascension and plummet to the cold unfeeling earth below. It is the pedestal we place others upon, and heights that are beyond the realm of possibility. Beyond the fragility of perfection, and the inevitable plunge to earth and reality. But in our descent, embracing our mortality. Eventually, we all fail; we all tumble to our end. But in our accelerated descent, the inevitable impact can feel like an embrace. It is unavoidable, so all we can do is accept it. And in that wisdom, we PLUMMET UPWARDS.” - Waiton Farrell

Join us on a journey toward the beckoning rays of the sun as we present an intimate concert featuring our founder and creative director, Waiton Farrell, bass-baritone, with Utako Washio, piano. Inspired by Icarus’ plummet from the sky, we explore themes of trauma and loss, and the inevitable lessons which failure instills within us, translating into a triumphant ascent from the earth to the realm of dreams beyond this reality.

Composers include: Ned Rorem, Robert Schumann, William Grant Still, Florence Price, Hugo Wolf, Georges Bizet, and other delights.

HAUTE Opera is honored and delighted to announce that we have partnered with the mesmerizing and ingenious queer multi-media artist Sean Alistair for a curated exhibition of works that reflect PLUMMET UPWARDS, the transcendent inversion of the classic figure of Icarus, reflecting not on his fall from the clouds, but on his rise.

We can't wait to welcome you to The Ballery for an evening of art, music, and fashion, as we debut HAUTE Opera in Berlin, the city we love. Welcome HOme.
