Join us in Seattle or online for the annual PLUGS Summit, where a diverse group of stakeholders gather to learn practical tools for laboratory stewardship program development and insurance alignment that will apply to hospitals, health systems, reference labs, insurance payers, and patients.
The PLUGS Summit is a hybrid event and offers in-person and virtual attendance options.

ARUP Laboratories Workshop – The Importance of Good Governance in Lab Stewardship—Setting Your Program Up for Success.
Speakers: Sandy Richman, MBA, Tony Smith, BS, MLT, Karen Brownell
Description: Proper governance is the most important and sometimes the most challenging aspect of developing an effective lab stewardship program. Join ARUP Healthcare Advisory Services experts, Sandy Richman and Tony Smith, as they walk you through establishing a high-functioning interdepartmental laboratory stewardship committee.
They will cover the following:
• How to get approval for your program
• Objectives and activities of the planning and steering committees
• Groups that must be represented on the steering committee
• Potential challenges that may arise and strategies to overcome them
• Ways to improve collaboration with other clinical care teams in your organization
Karen Brownell, assistant vice president of Laboratory Services at Intermountain Healthcare, will share how her team successfully navigated challenges to gain support for and develop an effective lab stewardship committee.
This workshop is held in conjunction with the PLUGS® Summit 2022 and is offered at no additional cost to PLUGS Summit attendees. Workshops are available only to in-person attendees.
