DGM will host PLUGGEDN, its first FREE conference event for youth ages 8-18 (boys and girls). This event will be filled with laughter, fun, education, activities, food, resources, and so much more! The conference will feature powerful motivational and professional male and female speakers. Our speakers will offer supportive interventions to help youth centered around building confidence, career development, self-esteem, relationships, conflict resolution, and community resources.
Every day children are faced with obstacles that create a self-limiting belief system; these beliefs prevent them from making positive life choices that will ultimately make a difference in their life. Our youth tend to limit themselves in their emotions, talents, money, ability to work, academic growth, and more. Having set limitations leads to the fact that “within the 10-24 age group, suicide is the third-leading overall cause of death”, according to the CDC. A 2013 Youth Risk Behavioral Survey in GA found ‘28 percent of high school students said they had experienced the feeling of hopelessness and sadness for a constant period of two weeks or greater during the past twelve months. That compares with 30 percent nationally.” We must challenge our youth to overcome their fear and embrace their talents and concentrate on themselves versus life’s hardships.
The Plugged-N Youth Conference, is an organized event designed to encourage dialogue between our youth, their peers and adult representatives to facilitate positive change in our communities.
