Playwrights Horizons: A Night with the Stars
"A Night with the Stars," is an event hosted by Playwrights Horizons supporting the closing production of its new show, "A Life," written by Adam Bock. This production, centered around a man who after multiple failed relationships finds refuge in the stars, has been widely anticipated. Coming off of an immense momentum from previews, this night will include a reception and discussion about astrology and what propelled playwright Adam Bock to bring this production into fruition. Adam Bock and renowned Broadway actor and castmember David Hyde Pierce will lead the conversation, along with an astrological expert from Angel Eye Astrology.
The night will include finger foods from "Natuarally Delicious Catering," a mini bar, an opportunity to recieve signed photos from the "stars," and quick personalized natal charts. After indulging on Nate's (David Hyde Pierce's) perplexities of his future in relationship to astrology, we find it fiting to allow others to find their own directions in the midst of the stars. This event will begin at 9:30p.m. in the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre, following the end of the first production of "A Life," and will end around 12:00a.m.
Tickets are $85 for General Admission and FREE for all 30 and Under Members, along with the face value of each play ticket. They will provide an entrance into the event and two additional drink tickets. All funding for this event is tax-deductable, and all proceeds will filter into maintaining the running of "A Life," which is a technically heavy show with multiple moving parts.
Please consider contributing an additional, independent donation to Playwrights Horizons, as all proceeds that help fund "A Life" also contribute to the funding of the New Works Lab. The New Works Lab is a Playwrights Horizons project that has been supporting hard-working American writers and focuses on allowing them to develop and their work. "A Life" itself, emerged from this program. As the organization has grown, we proudly may proclaim that this project has established Playwrights Horizons as one of the forefronts in allowing new work and new artists to be produced.
Our financial goal is to raise $25,000 from this event, which will help sustain all of the production necessities in "A Life" and further, provide the finances to stimulate future growth of the New Works Lab. We are currently working to add a seventh play to our current six-production season. Thank you all so much for your support.
We look forward to seeing you at "A Night with the Stars!"
