Event description
Meet and Greet and Panel Discussion with Industry Professionals on Producing Theatrical Projects and Live Performances.

About this Event

Playwrights, producers, cast, and crew don't miss this opportunity to connect with like-minded storytellers. This round table/meet & greet is your chance to share, to vent, to motivate, and most importantly re-energize.

Producing theatrical projects requires a lot of passion, business savvy and the ability to juggle (directors, actors, budgets, crew, etc.). And whether you are new to mounting shows or a seasoned producer having an experienced mind to bounce strategies and ideas off of can be the difference between producing an OK project or an excellent project! This panel discussion brings together theatre creators who have produced, performed or crewed on productions from Peachtree to Broadway to answer your questions about choosing plays, developing a budget, fundraising, selecting venues, marketing and more.

Making great theatre is not for the faint of heart but for those with great hearts! We use the stage to tell stories that reflect the past and present, reality, or fantasy. What we do matters; let's talk about how to do it outstandingly.

Goodies:

  • Lite Refreshments
  • Giveaways: Free casting call space and rehearsal time
  • Web-based 15-second introductory video (1st 5 attendees)
  • Interview on The Theatre Creators Podcast hosted by Karlotta Washington
  • Theatrical Producer's Toolkit

A Producer
I think only people in the theatre know what a producer is. The public does not know. It knows a writer writes, and an actor acts, and a director tells them what to do. A producer raises money. Well, he does, and in some cases that’s all he does. But the workers in the theatre know that this is not the real thing. A producer is a rare, paradoxical genius— hard-headed, soft-hearted, cautious, reckless, a hopeful innocent in fair weather, a stern pilot in stormy weather, a mathematician who prefers to ignore the laws of mathematics and trust intuition, an idealist, a realist, a practical dreamer, a sophisticated gambler, a stage-struck child. That’s a producer.
