Event description

Description

Facilitated by Paige Wideman.

Have you ever noticed that creating can open the mind to focus and take risks? This sort of "being in the moment" enables a person to truly experience life and the people around them. One tool that can help achieve this is meditation. This workshop will introduce different forms of meditation to help discover ways to relax, settle the mind and focus in on the moment at hand.

While in a mindful state, we will begin to explore the creativity within ourselves. This time is not about creating a perfect work of art, but rather to release judgment and play with art materials to see what possibilities begin to unfold. Everyone is welcome, whether or not they have any prior art experience. All materials will be provided.

Paige Wideman received her BFA in sculpture from the Kansas City Art Institute and MFA in sculpture from the University of Cincinnati. Paige is currently a lecturer for Northern Kentucky University. Her goal is turned toward reaching students, enticing them, each as individuals, to openly discover art and achieve their own form of self-expression. In opening up to the unfamiliar, they often enable themselves to learn and reflect upon many aspects of their own lives. Seeing this occurrence, first hand, has helped Paige to more fully understand the direction in which her own work is evolving.

This class will meet on 11/7, 11/14, 11/28, 12/5, 12/12 and 12/19.
