Event description

Description

Have you ever wondered how to identify and transform garden botanicals into herbal balms? Join horticulturist & herbalist Robin Haglund of Garden Mentors in our two-part summer plant medicine program. In this session, we’ll explore the NW Bloom farm to harvest healing herbs like lavender. Robin will bring other “herbalist’s choice” seasonal herbs to share as well. We will work on dry-preserving our lavender harvest and preparing infusions of herbs - both to take home for your herbal apothecary.

In session two (Sept. 7th), we’ll return to the farm to harvest fresh, fragrant herbs. Then, we’ll meet up in the hands-on classroom to transform what we’ve gathered, along with dried and infused herbalist’s choice herbs, into luscious healing salves and refreshing hydrosols. You’ll learn simple techniques for crafting with minimal ingredients, common kitchen tools, and you’ll get a chance to experience preparing hydrosols with an herbalists’ copper alembic.

In both sessions, you’ll learn about wonderful qualities of many plants, and in addition to taking home samples of what you harvest and craft in each class, you’ll also take home the skills to DIY your own herbal goods for a lifetime.

(You may enroll in only one session, but enrollment in both is recommended to maximize your experience.)

For this session please bring: hand shears, gloves, pen and paper.

Fee is on a sliding scale, please choose an amount between $22-$32 which suits your budget. (Materials included)

There will be some finished products available for purchase when class is over.

Class may be subject to cancellation if a minimum number of participants is not met.
