Description

Course Goal
Learn how to make vegan alternatives for traditional comfort foods.

Course Description
In the winter months I am always looking for ways to create delicious, comforting dishes that don’t rely on butter, cheese, and cream. In this class, students will learn how to make versatile plant-based spreads and sauces -- from a filling for lasagna to “cheesy” sauces for nachos or vegetables. We will make two basic recipes that can be easily adapted to become components in many different meals. This class is perfect for anyone looking to eat less dairy, for vegans and vegetarians, and for people simply trying to incorporate more vegetables, nuts, or legumes into their diet. Students will watch the dishes being made, sample them, and go home with the recipes.

Instructor(s): Lylee Rauch-Kacenski,
Lylee has been a vegetarian for 17 years and has cooked in restaurants for 10 years. She loves that food brings people together; sharing a meal with someone is the foundation for creating community and connection. Lylee strives to cook delicious meals with nourishing ingredients and is constantly learning, experimenting, and cooking for others.

Number of Sessions: This course meets one time.

Requirements: Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
