Description

Join The Sill and Caro Arevalo for an exclusive Plant and Flower Illustration Workshop at our Cobble Hill Store in Brooklyn, New York!

Watercolor is all about flow and what best than use it to illustrate the free form evolution of plants and flowers. In this plant and flower illustration workshop, we will learn the versatile techniques to paint with watercolors and the creative process of doing a composition all of your own.

About the class

We will start with hands-on learning the versatile techniques used for watercolors; like wet on wet, wet on dry and gradients. Then we will focus on the basic shapes of leaves and flowers, using real plants as our inspiration. You will create your own illustration, or greeting card, using the learned techniques and your own creative process and imagination. Enjoy complimentary wine and Monty's snack and cream cheese while you DIY!

We will have an assortment of different watercolor papers available for you to try out and choose from as well. At the end of the class, you will take home either a small illustration or greeting card, assorted brushes, pencil and eraser as well as an assortment of different watercolor papers for your further projects.

The workshop will kick off promptly at 7:30pm, but feel free to come as early as you'd like to shop plants and hang out with us!

*This class is open for all levels of experience! All materials will be provided and are included in the ticket price, but you are also welcomed to bring your own art supplies if you'd like.

*Space is extremely limited! We recommend purchasing your ticket ASAP.

*All ticket sales are final.

About the artist:

Caro Arevalo is a Peruvian visual artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Her work resides in the visual embodiment of the “unveiled” in the various journeys throughout the psyche – all the cells that conform our inner bodies and its connection to the outer worlds. After receiving her BFA with major in printmaking in Peru, Caro moved to NYC to pursue biology imaging studies, now, her work incorporates elements from nature as seen with the naked eye and the microscope, as well as the representation of the quintessential energy that runs through all living beings.

From her Amazonian heritage she embraces the importance of rituals and ancestral wisdom, as they teach her that by observing nature one can notice that there is no real separateness in between beings and this leads us to identify the whole universe connected as a one.
