Event description

Description

Get your hands dirty and do something good for nature this fall!

Join One Tree Planted and the Borton Elemetary School in planting trees !

Help us revilalize this town owned property that was destroyed during Tropical Storm Irene. Although it has been partially restored over the years there is still work to be done! We aim to, by spring 2020, have created an important buffer along the entire stretch of the river. Come join us in helping restore this wonderful habitat!

This year, as part of a 3rd grade project, Who Will Speak for the Trees? Why and How?, students will survey trees on our campus to learn about the impact trees have on our environment. The culminating part of our project is to learn how to properly care for trees so that they can live long and have the maximum positive benefit for our environment.

Our community event will begin with a workshop from local arborists teaching our community the proper way to trim and prune trees. Community members will then take that knowledge and trim trees on the Borton Campus. This knowledge will extend into community members neighborhoods as they care for the trees at their home.
