Description
SAVE-THE-DATE
The Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Density Webinar will explore a topic foundational to the Priority Development Area (PDA) Program. The PDA Program, predicated on infill development near quality transit, is central to achieving increasingly aggressive regional and state Greenhouse Gas reduction goals. In order to grow in ways that support quality transit while benefiting communities, identifying the right set of densities is critical. This forum will explore best practices and evidence from recent research on transit-supportive housing and job densities.
Transity Oriented Development 101, Laura Tolkoff, SPUR
The presentation will review planning and policy perspectives, best practices, and the ideal mix of uses and densities needed to support transit. Examples will include regional and international case studies.
Transit-Oriented Communities (TOC) Framework, Jill Gibson & Jeremy Nelson, VTA
Using the TOC Framework and BART Phase 2, the presentation will review type, mix, and density required to support various modes of transit – from buses, BRT, light rail, fixed rail and high speed rail.
Density and the Plan Bay Area 2050 Blueprint, Mark Shorett, ABAG/MTC
The Regional Growth Framework update outlines a revised land use pattern for growth in PDAs, PCAs and PPAs. What policies and strategies should Plan Bay Area 2050 employ to support this growth, and how should density factor in?
