Description

Engaging students in learning is the heart of the Framework for Teaching. Through the process of developing thoughtful learning activities, students actively participate in learning. In this session, participants will distinguish between what it means to be cognitively engaged and being on task. We will look closely at the relationship between Danielson components 1e (Designing Coherent Instruction) and 3c (Engaging Students in Learning) to understand and apply effective and highly effective practices to maximize student engagement the the classroom. This session is designed for K-8 classroom teachers.

- Gain a deeper understanding of how components 1e and 3c impact student engagement and achievement
- Engage in professional peer-collaborative conversations rooted in the Framework for Teaching to support planning for student engagement
- Embed instructional strategies that lead to high levels of student engagement in daily practice
