Planning for Resistance: A Meeting on Radical Urbanism in the Trump Era

Planners Network NYC and the Pratt Radical Planners Working Group will host a meeting for progressive planners, community organizers, and students to discuss the role of the planning field in responding to the current political climate, and to consider the new complexities this brings to equity-driven, anti-oppression work in urban communities. The goal is to galvanize the network of radical and progressive community organizers, professional planners and students living and working in NYC, and kick-off renewed organizing and event programming from the NYC chapter of the Planners Network.

The meeting will be led in part by Tom Angotti, Planners Network founding member and director of the Hunter College Center for Community Planning and Development. This will be followed by a series of free-flowing, participatory, roundtable discussions facilitated by the Pratt Radical Planners Working Group, with a focus on urgent planning and political concerns, and a goal of sharing experiences and forging forward-looking strategies for progressive planning practice in this uncertain time.

A light lunch and refreshments will be served, and the event will be followed by a social hour and reception at a nearby restaurant at 4:00 pm (location TBA shortly).

Please RSVP above. RSVP's are strictly required and your name must be on the guest list, wiether either a governmnet-issued ID or Pratt photo ID to enter the building.

All participants are welcome. Wheelchair and elevator access is available at Higgins Hall. If special accommodations are needed, please call 631-481-5883 and leave a message with details.
