Description

Please join the Camden County COAD as we explore the planning and lessons learned from Gotham Shield - a different kind of disaster. Camden County has experienced more than its share of weather-related events - flooding, hurricanes, winter storms, tornadoes and even earthquakes. Sadly, human-caused disasters are becoming much more frequent, and we need to do our part to be more prepared for whatever may lie ahead.

Gotham Shield 2017 was a national FEMA exercise conducted in the Spring of 2017 to evaluate the whole community effort to prevent, protect from, respond to, and plan initial recovery after the effects of an Improvised Nuclear Device (IND) attack. This multi-agency, real-time drill involved multiple law enforcement, rescue, response and recovery organizations throughout the Northeast. This session will provide an overview of the event and explore the likely implications of an IND in our region, while also sharing lessons learned from FEMA and NJVOAD.

Please join us at the KROC Center on 9/28, to learn more and to continue building a network of organizations throughout Camden County who will help our community respond and recover from weather-related or human-caused disasters.
