Four workshops for parents and teachers of children with communication and sensory needs from Years 3 to Year 6. Explore how Primary school strategies feed into transition planning for Secondary School with support of professionals and experienced parents.
10 November 2016 – An introduction to how hidden sensory and communication needs affect learning and behaviour. Understand why a child’s primary school experience helps plan for secondary transition.
22 November 2016 – A parent panel explains how they planned for and supported their children into different secondary placements: mainstream, private and specialist.
6 December 2016 - An Educational Psychologist explains how a child’s individual profile of cognitive, social, communication and sensory abilities can be evidenced to provide strategies for home, education and life.
17 January 2017 - How new legislation around Education Health and Care Plans supports delivery of education to pupils from Primary to Secondary school and beyond.
