Event description

Description

Join Global Education Center for Planets Need Love Too, an art exhibit made from recycled materials by Nashville artist Daniel Arite. An opening reception and artist talk will be held on September 30 beginning at 5:30 pm. The exhibit features two short videos that explore ways that the arts can help us become better environmental stewards and foster more sustainable living. The videos will be accompanied by an improvised soundtrack produced by the artist and surprise guests. After the reception, there will be a screening of the documentary film Landfill Harmonic, which follows the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, a Paraguayan youth group that lives next to one of South America’s largest landfills and makes musical instruments from recycled materials. Light refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public. Funding has been made possible by the Puffing Foundation Ltd. After the opening reception, the art can be viewed by appointment from October 3 – 27.
