Pizza Making Class at Next Door!

Next Door Pizza & Bar is brought to you by Douglas Coffin, who founded and ran Big Green Truck Pizza for 17 years. Since the trucks are housed directly behind the building, he admired this space, which housed the historic Humphrey's Bar and Grill for years, and saw an opportunity to bring back some of that neighborly feeling, drawing on his own diverse New Haven experiences. In 2018, the idea for a Big Green Truck pizzeria evolved into something much more, reflected in the name: Next Door reflects the closeness & familiarity we all want in a neighborhood establishment with great staff to entertain family and friends!

March 2020 changed everything, but we don’t have to tell you that. We collectively went through incredibly challenging times. During the ups and downs, while navigating completely unknown territory, we decided to close the door of our beloved Next Door. It was hard to walk away from such a pretty place; one that we had put so much into. In an effort to keep the place alive, we turned to our sister organization, Big Green Truck Pizza. The trucks were still rolling. Their kitchen was still cranking out dough and toppings, so we took over the space as Big Green Truck Pizza Takeout. We have been doing pizzas to go as well as some salads and pastas and your support has been overwhelming!

We are excited to announce that after a year away, NEXT DOOR has opened its neighborhood doors once again! We look a little different than before, we have a great kitchen menu that you’ve been tasting through our takeout operation and of course the same great pizza you love. Our bar is full of your favorite spirits, select wines and local craft beer!  Come check out our unique atmosphere across from Jocelyn Square Park, in the historic Piurek building that once housed the beloved neighborhood bar Humphrey's! #seeyounextdoor
