FAQs
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Yes, this a 21+ Event. You'll need to bring your ID to the event to register at Pizza Camp.
Can I bring my dog?
Leave your furry friends at home for the night or book a pet-sitter. Unfortunately, Baker Near-Wilderness Center does not allow pets of any kind.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Campers must get to the camp on their own or with their group. At this time, we do not provide transportation. Please carpool to Pizza Camp if possible. For further questions, please contact us. Expect some traffic/road construction on your way to camp, it IS in road construction season.
What if I'm vegan? Or gluten-free? Or vegetarian? Will I still like pizza camp?
We aim to accommodate and please all diets, allergies, and preferences. That being said, this is largely a community-catered event so we ask that you please let us know what your dietary preferences are when you fill out the registration form so we can prepare for your needs ahead of time. This event is less friendly to those with extreme gluten allergies, as it does involve exposure to flour via the air, kitchen, and shared oven.
What are the cabins like?
The cabins are rustic wood cabins that sleep 8. Each cabin will have a group of 8 campers in them and will be divided to best suit all registered camper groups. The cabins do not have electricity or air conditioning. Each camper gets one bunk bed with a mattress on it. Each camper must provide their own pillow, blankets, and sleeping bag. We recommend bringing a sleeping pad if you already own one, it will upgrade that camp mattress a bit. The camp provides lanterns if needed, but we recommend bringing a head lamp or flashlight. Phone charging opportunities are also limited in the cabins, so come fully charged or bring a back-up battery. There are a few outlets available in the main lodge. The cabins are all a very short walk from the main lodge and campfire area. The cabins will remain unlocked throughout camp, so you'll want to stow valuables or avoid bringing them at all. Campers usually only use these cabins to sleep in at night, our time in them is otherwise fairly limited. There are rustic toilets near the cabins and two stalled bathrooms in the main lodge, which is also where the only running water is. There is also one private shower available in the main lodge.
Can I bring my own food? Should i?
If you have a certain snack you can't live without or a favorite pizza topping - bring it along! However, we try real hard to have anything and everything you'll need on hand: Meals, snacks, beverages. If you do want to bring something with you, keep in mind that you'll need to have a cooler to store it in so you can keep it in the lodge. As a BNWS rule: food is not allowed in the cabins, probably something to do with it being a nature preserve and the potential that little critters may get into it or something.
Can I share a cabin with my friends?
Yes! We try to keep groups together. If your group is larger than 8, you may be divided in some way. When you register, you will be asked who you'd like to camp with, if anyone. You will also be asked if you prefer a women's bunk, men's bunk, or co-ed cabin. Each cabin will have 8 people sleeping it, as there are only 8 cabins at pizza camp. Cabins are primarily used for sleeping.
What's the weather going to be like?
Pizza Camp is a rain or shine event. It will be best to check the weather the night before camp and pack accordingly. As we write this in May, we expect warm weather. Be prepared for rain. The sun goes down around 9. As we say in Minnesota, there is no bad weather, only bad clothing. It is best to pack a change of clothes and as the scouts would say "be prepared".
What can I bring to the event?
Bring yourself, seasonal clothing, toiletries, bug spray, suntan lotion, a bed roll (sleeping bag, pillow, and optional sleeping pad), a flashlight or headlamp, a water bottle, pizza swag, and any other pizza related items you want to bring. Bring the essentials you'll need for one night. If you'd want it at summer camp, bring it. If you'd like, you can bring your own camping chair for the camp fire. Some people like to bring their hammocks. That might mean you want to bring a game or a favorite pizza item to share. If you have pizza-themed clothing or costumes, this is a great chance to wear them. If you have a favorite pizza book, craft, or skill (like knot-tying) that you may want to share, bring it on! Just like when we were kids, keep in mind that you might want to label anything you're sharing with other campers.
What CAN'T I bring into the event?
We are subject to the rules of Baker Near-WIlderness Center. This means no hard alcohol, wine, or beer in large containers. (Don't worry, we'll have beer on hand). Please do not bring guns, drugs, or anything else that might be considered dangerous or is illegal, like fireworks. Unfortunately, we also ask that you leave your pet at home (although we insist you bring a wallet-sized photo of your pet to show us).
How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Write to us at info@pizzacamp.org. We'll get back to you as soon as possible.
How can I partner with Pizza Camp?
Reach out to us at partners@pizzacamp.org with a proposal.
What's the refund policy?
We will give a full refund until Jun 11, 2018.
We will give a 75% refund until June 21, 2018.
Tickets are non-refundable after June 30, 2018.
However, we also understand that emergencies happen and people get sick and so on. If you need to cancel at the last minute we will do our best to refund a portion of your ticket and still get your pizza camp swag bag to you. If instead, you can find someone to take your place - that is optimal. Please let us know as soon as possible so we can try to find a new home for your ticket, in which case you would receive a full refund. Please only purchase tickets for people who can confirm availability and do not "hold spots", as registration is very limited.
