On first Product School Meetup for 2020 is going to be a special one! This February we host Joseph Alvertis, VP of Products at Orfium, to discuss what difficulties were met, how they gained knowledge using UX practices, how the processes were affected, and what product ownership means for them through that phase. The Talks

Pivoting a bootstrapped company from B2C to B2B products: challenges and lessons, Orfium

Orfium has built a 100+ team company without raising any funding, in the competitive market of the music industry, by pivoting from B2C to B2B products. Through that presentation, the product team of Orfium will discuss what difficulties were met, how we gained knowledge using UX practices, how the processes were affected, and what product ownership means for us through that phase. Tools, processes, critical points and lessons learned will be shared with the audience, to initiate a constructive discussion.

How to NOT say no to stakeholders (and make them feel like geniuses), Reborrn

In improvisation theater, we produce entire plays on the spot. Without a script to guide us, we can only rely on the support of our fellow actors. The skills and values we need to pull that off translate directly to the product management profession: listening and situational awareness, building trust, safely taking risks, dealing with failure, and ultimately turning vague suggestions into works of beauty. In this fun, energetic, interactive workshop, we'll explore some of the fundamental principles of improvisation and we show how the art can help us become better at our jobs. If you feel like all you do is say no to stakeholders all day, come and check out why "Yes, And" is the golden rule of improv.

Meet the Speaker: Joseph Alvertis

Joseph started his career as a Developer, launched a successful startup in social media, spent 8 years in Academia and R&D, to decide that Product Management is the sweet place to be. Within 1.5 years, Joseph helped to build 3 different Agile teams, grow the Product team to 6, launch 2 new B2B products and grow the revenue of the main B2B product. Joseph holds a Dipl.- M.Eng and a PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering from NTUA, and an MBA from AUEB.

Product School

Founded in Silicon Valley in 2014, Product School is the global leader in product management training, with over 10,000 alumni, 20 campuses worldwide and a live online campus.

Product School’s certificates (PMC™,FPMC™,PLC™) are the most important industry-recognized certificates for product managers; and all of our instructors are senior-level product managers working at top technology companies such as Google, Facebook, Airbnb, PayPal, LinkedIn, and Netflix.

Unlike traditional MBA programs designed for students seeking roles within the finance and consulting fields, Product School’s curriculum is highly relevant for the next generation of technology leaders, with classes offered at a fraction of the cost. The curriculum is designed to fit into work schedules with small classes held in the evenings or on weekends to ensure that both instructors and students can maintain their full-time jobs.

Students at Product School enjoy a healthy mix of hands-on projects, group activities, case studies, and panel discussions. Through this, they learn how to lead cross-functional teams, and experience building digital products from end to end. Students are also taught how to succeed in product management interviews and given access to our alumni community where they can expand their network, find mentors, and access job opportunities.

In addition to individual classes, Product School also delivers custom corporate training programs to Fortune 500 companies seeking to upskill their existing teams or onboard new talent.

Product School is committed to pushing the product community forward. With this aim in mind, we published the Amazon bestseller, The Product Bookorganize events in over 150 cities worldwide, host Proddys - The Product Awardsand produce ProductCona multi-city global conference attended by thousands of product managers every year.
