Event description

Description

Allegheny County residents can receive free trees thanks to the Tree Recovery Campaign from Tree Pittsburgh, the Arbor Day Foundation, and FedEx with support from Peoples Natural Gas and Allegheny County Parks.

Saturday, October 7 beginning at 10:00 a.m. Tree Pittsburgh will distribute 1,000 trees to homeowners in Allegheny County who have lost ash trees.

Species include riverbirch, sycamore, hackberry, umbrella magnolia, white oak, yellow buckeye, sweetgum, and black gum. All trees given away will grow to full size mature shade trees in order fill in the canopy lost when the ash trees died.

We cannot guarantee the species you receive. 1 tree per person (no more than 2 per household please). Registration is strongly encouraged, but we generally accept walk-ins while supplies last.

Tree Information:

Upon pick-up, trees will be in 2 gallon containers and will be from 2-8’ tall. Trees will fit in a car/truck.

For advice on where in your yard to plant your tree, check out Right Tree, Right Place from the Arbor Day Foundation.
