Carnegie Mellon University School of Music is proud to present the Pittsburgh Double Bass Symposium on March 6, 2022. This year’s event will be in person and streamed live on Carnegie Mellon’s YouTube Channel. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, audiences at Carnegie Mellon University are limited to fifty percent capacity. Audience members are required to be vaccinated, masked, and observe social distancing. If you plan to attend this year’s event in person, you must register online. Registration is open January 24-March 3, 2022.
This year’s symposium features classes with Jeremy Kurtz-Harris, Principal Bass of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra; Tracy Rowell, Double Bass Professor, Oberlin Conservatory and the Cleveland Institute of Music; and Jeff Mangone, Principal Bass of the Pittsburgh Opera Orchestra, and performances by Max Dimoff, Principal Bass of the Cleveland Orchestra; the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra Double Bass Section with Carnegie Mellon University Double Bass faculty, Micah Howard and Peter Guild.
3/5/22 NOTE: Volkan Orhon will no longer be performing at the symposium due to a family emergency. Max Dimoff will now be performing at 8pm, and Jason Heath and Micah Howard will be holding an open discussion with the live and virtual audiences at 3:30pm.

All performances and classes are held in Kresge Theatre. The exhibitors are located in Alumni Concert Hall in the College of Fine Arts Building.
