Women Aware is committed to a vision of a just society. Founded in 1979, our mission is to end domestic violence in the lives of women, children, and men, and to change societal attitudes and institutions that promote and condone violence, through public policy, advocacy, education, and programs and services that promote lives free of violence. We are a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization and registered charity in the State of New Jersey, and we are the designated lead domestic violence agency for Middlesex County.
Women Aware has over 33 years of experience in providing wraparound programs to survivors of domestic violence, thus increasing safety, reducing barriers to service, and advancing community awareness of violent relationships. We focus on practical, concrete skills of independent living while offering intensive case management, safety planning, counseling, housing assistance, life skills, parenting education, art and music therapy for children, advocacy, health education and screening, translation services, and pastoral care.
Women Aware’s comprehensive service model renders support across the entire spectrum of client needs—from emergency crisis intervention to long-term efforts to enhance safety and independent living. We offer services in three locations including a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, legal advocacy, community education, support groups, and children’s programs. All services are free and confidential.
