This year's awardee - George Greathouse - is the retired owner and barber of the renowned Esquire Barber Shop that operated for 52 years in downtown Phoenix. He grew up in segregated Arizona making his mark as a high school football legend who attended all-black Carver High School and was later integrated into Phoenix Union High School. He attended and played football at Arizona State University for two years. The Esquire Barber Shop became a hub in the community and the entrepreneur served local customers and famous clients. His shop walls were covered with dozens of photos of his many famous clients who included Muhammed Ali, Bo Jackson, Meadowlark Lemon, Jesse Owens and Lou Rawls.
