Pinta*Dos Gallery presents

Strands: Indigenous Filipino Textile from the Pinta*Dos Collection, an exhibition of works of ancestral weaving traditions of various indigenous tribes of the Philippine Archipelago from the collection of Linda Nietes and Robert J. Little, Jr.

Exhibition Dates: May 26 - July 14, 2018

Opening Reception: Saturday, May 26, 4 – 7 pm

Pinta*Dos Gallery presents two interwoven exhibitions showcasing the textile traditions of the Philippines and their continued influence on Filipino and Filipino-American artists. Co-curated by artists Maryrose Cobarrubias Mendoza and Joseph Santarromana.

The first in this two-part exhibition opens in May, Strands: Indigenous Filipino Textile from the Pinta*Dos Collection, features selections from the collection of Linda Nietes and Robert J. Little, Jr. Their textile collection encompasses works from the ancestral weaving traditions of various indigenous tribes spanning the
Philippine Archipelago.

The second part of the exhibition opens in August, Strands: Filipino and Filipino American Artists Encounter Textile, presents works by Filipino-American contemporary artists Cirilo Domine and Christine Morla, and Manila’s Aze Ong, all of whom have been conceptually, spiritually, or formally inspired to use textiles as a starting point of inquiry.
