Pinellas Human Trafficking (CSEC) Training 1/28/15
Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM (EST)
House Bill 7141 which was approved by the 2014 Legislature, created s. 409.1754, Florida Statutes, which cites administrative requirements for serving child victims of sexual exploitation. The new law requires "specialized intensive training" for child protective investigators and case managers who are handling cases involving a sexually exploited child.
To ensure all staff are prepared to handle alleged, suspected or known victims who have been sexually exploited we will hold mandatory trainings for all case load carrying staff. One session will be held each Friday in September. Attendance is required at one session only. The five hour Friday session will fulfill the live instruction requirements as part of the new law. Each required participant should also watch the 1 hour webinar. More information on the webinar will be sent out.
Each session will take place on a Friday from 8:30am to 4:00pm,
The sessions will include information on:
Dispel commonly held beliefs and stereotypes
Define Terms and understand issues of CSEC
Understand the forms and prevalence of CSEC
Become Familiar with methods of recruitment used by exploiters
Understand the psychological and physical impact of trauma on victims
Becoming aware of the subcultures of CSEC, and more.
