pineapple dc is delighted to host Molly Yeh: an award winning blogger, creator of epic layer cakes and all around joy-producing human. a trail of positive energy follows this lady's every move, and we can't wait to welcome her to our city.
molly will share from her new cookbook Molly on the Range: Recipes and Stories from an Unlikely Life on her Farm. our conversation will explore the influence of her Chinese and Jewish roots on her creative process and the power of documenting our day to day discoveries. our co-host Ilyse Lerner of the newly opened 'On Rye' will serve up her famous babka ice cream sandwiches and mini latkes during the book signing. we will ask very important questions like "how many rainbow sprinkles can we fit in a babka?"
About Molly Yeh: Yeh recently moved from Brooklyn to a sugar beet farm outside of the North Dakota-Minnesota border, where her husband is a fifth-generation farmer. She spends her days baking, writing, photographing, and navigating the new-to-her upper-Midwestern cuisine, like vegetable-less salads and tater tot hotdish. She documents her adventures in her blog, my name is yeh, which was named Saveur’s 2015 Blog of the Year and Yahoo’s 2014 Blog of the Year. Molly’s work has appeared in Food52, Saveur, Food & Wine, Condé Nast Traveler, Kinfolk, and Modern Farmer, and she was featured by the New York Times in a video about the Norwegian flatbread lefse. Outside of the kitchen, Molly is a Juilliard-trained percussionist and has performed with orchestras around the world, in off-Broadway theater, and as the glockenspielest for the pop-band San Fermin. She is mama to 12 hens who are all named Macaroni and one rooster named Tofu.
