Contemporary piña nowadays is often blended with other fibers like silk (piña seda) or cotton, making it more versatile and less costly. With its delicate embroidery, Filipino fashion designers have made their reputation on the global runway with piña couture. The highlight of this exhibit at the San Francisco Filipino Cultural Center is a fashion show of contemporary piña garments of Anthony Cruz Legarda amidst the setting of The Hinabi Project’s collection of commissioned piña works This event is a fund-raiser for future Hinabi Project exhibits.
