Pies with a Purpose
Sunday, April 28, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM (PDT)
In 2013, 1300 young adults in Nevada will age out of the foster care system and be forced out on their own. Without the proper skills to live and survive independently, 70% of these youths will end up homeless or in jail after the first year. The Eddy House is a local non-profit whose mission is to help these young adults make a successful transition to independence through an independent living home providing a supportive and educational environment, and a work experience program at Z-Pie Reno, located in the West Street Market.
Pies with a Purpose is a culinary showcase in support of The Eddy House, and Downtown Reno's top chefs, including Larry Dunning of Bowl, Mark Estee of Campo, Bill Gilbert of Beaujolais Bistro, Niko of Nikos Greek Kitchen, and Homage Bakery have come together to help. Each chef will be creating their version of a gourmet pie for you to enjoy, along with beer and wine from Southern Wine and Spirits and Crown Imports, and locally roasted coffee from the Woodfire Roasted Coffee Company.
The event will feature music by John "Reno Sax Man" Graham, and an auction with items you will not want to miss. We look forward to seeing you there.
